I was talking with J a while ago about how uninspired I’ve been and he said “Just draw shit.”
But the emphasis was on shit, not draw, so he wasn’t saying just draw for the sake of drawing, he was saying draw things that are not good. He said to “draw shit” until something good came to me.
Sometimes I feel lethargic like I do now, and I think it is the result of not being productive enough. I think it is the result of some depression pooled like fluid somewhere in my cranium. I think it is the result of not being satisfied with the fact that sometimes I sit in one place for so long that parts of my body feel numb, and I didn’t even know they could feel numb. I think it is the result of how my eyes burn because I haven’t slept and when I close my eyes I can see some white light imprinted against my eyes.
The sky is cataracts today, and I gaze against that milky whiteness and it is forever away, very far and always stretching into the distance. Whether I see through it or whether it is a wall that my eyes perceive as being thick and fluid because of its endlessness is questionable.
What would it even look like if the sky fell? Would it crumble and fall like a horizontal cliff deteriorating upon us, heavy, or would it fall like a blanket and smother or slowly suffocate us?
Hips
Have I talked about my hips yet?
I love my hips. I do. I am very small. Very very small. I am petite and I have narrow shoulders and I’m only 5’2”. But for a girl of my stature my hips are surprisingly broad and womanly. Not that many people see that — I typically wear loose, somewhat boyish clothes. When people do see they’re a little taken aback, and it makes me smile and laugh, and when I laugh it feels like I’m doing crunches because I laugh from my diaphragm.

[me]: i have had another tumblr for a long time. a secret tumblr that nobody in the real world knows about. i write things there but i kept it anon because i was basically using it as a diary because it had a lot of personal things and sometimes i wrote there when my thoughts were too mangled to be presented in any other way
[anna]: that’s beautiful
i used to have a blogspot like that
[me]: it’s a good thing to have.
[anna]: yeah
once, i took five entire minutes, just writing down my thoughts
and it was a really long list
and it was beautiful
and it came out poetically
[me]: it’s the closest thing to a diary i’ve ever had. i haven’t ever told anyone about it because i was afraid that people would think of me differently if they read it because it’s very personal and i just sort of threw down my thoughts regardless of what they contained because anonymity is a great thing and nobody judges you because they have no preconceived notions of you
they just take the thoughts as they are and sometimes they appreciate them and sometimes there’s no comment but that’s okay because it’s just nice to have the thoughts out there.
[anna]: that’s excellent, Britney
i’ve tried writing down my thoughts, but I always end up feeling like an idiot, because it’s not like people need to read them
on a public site, that is
[me]: that’s true, but sometimes it’s nice to read someone’s thoughts because if you think the same thoughts or you can relate, it’s comforting
it’s comforting to not be the only person to think certain thoughts

There is no maximum calorie limit on school lunches however there is a minimum. School lunches need to be higher than 6-700 calories.
This meal would be denied bc of too few calories.
But a meal of fries, pizza, and high fructose corn syrup’ed fruits would be okay.
I hope no one is confused why children are having shorter lifespans than their parents.
^ that honestly scares me :/
that is SOOOOO messed up. and then they wonder why their kids get fatter and fatter *head shaking*
With liberty and obesity for all.
In poorer areas, though, this is a life saver. I’ve gone days where the only meals I eat are at school because I’d get it for free. Free cereal for breakfast = 300 Calories, then school lunch was probably closer to 800 or 900. 1200 calories in total isn’t enough for a 6 year old, but it’s better than nothing.

** WARNING: A lot of this post involves counting calories. Though it’s not in a dieting context, if you have problems with counting calories, this might not be for you. Also, most of the links are, unfortunately, to diet websites. Again, just something to bear in mind **
This is basic manipulation, and it’s really, really cheap. You are making two wildly differing arguments and trying to pass them off as the same thing. The meal pictured has not been banned because it’s healthy, it has been banned because it’s an insufficient amount of food. Pizzas and chips have not been approved because they’re unhealthy, they’ve been approved because they’re a sufficient amount of food. Can you not see how those two facts are in no way related whatsoever?
As a general rule of thumb, I should be getting around 2,550 calories a day. Obviously, different circumstances require different amounts, but that’s a general average for an adult male. This means that each of my three daily meals should consist of around 850 calories.
So, with that in mind, lets break down this meal shall we?
- Tuna Sandwich - 463 calories
- Fruit Salad - 125 calories
- Salad - about 30 calories
- Milk - 66 calories
- Total - 684 calories
This meal is only 80% of the energy I require to perform average, day to day tasks. In contrast, a Snickers contains around 330 calories. 2 Snickers bars would not constitute a sufficient amount of food, yet it provides exactly the same amount as this meal. Bear in mind that this is supposed to be the main meal of the day as well - my breakfast generally doesn’t provide 850 calories - so it probably winds up being around 60% of what I need.
This is the problem I have with diet culture, suddenly everyone is a fucking nutritionist. Carlories aren’t bad, you need calories. Carbohydrates are also good for you, they should be the main source of all your calories. They’re the bit that fill you up and keep you going. Though this meal has loads of green nutritious stuff, it does absolutely nothing to fill you up. This isn’t a meal, it’s a snack.
Yes, we shouldn’t be feeding kids greasy food all day every day, but we also shouldn’t treat them like rabbits. Getting kids to eat salads is going to help nobody, because unless they start eating their own body weight in lettuce every day, they’re going to pass out before the end of class.
Also, have you ever cooked professionally? I don’t mean in a resteraunt, I mean in a proper, canteen like environment. This meal is fine if you’re fixing it up for yourself, but imagine trying to make enough sandwiches to feed 1,000 kids, every. Single. Day. That’s a lot of fruit you’ve got to cut up to give a whole school a colourful side dish, especially if you’ve got to drive 30 miles out of town to get to a grocery store that sells fresh fruit. The reason schools serve pizza and chips is because they’re cheap, and they’re easy to cook in the huge quantities required. This meal just isn’t a realistic option to serve in a canteen, regardless of how much energy it provides.
There are certain things you can make en masse that are healthy, affordable and easy to make. You can’t go wrong with a lasagne, curry or anything based around pasta (bolognaise is always a safe bet). Not only that, but they’re also heavily adaptable for restricted diets, you can vegan up any of those dishes with ease, and a Caeliac variation is also possible with a little work.
But what you’re suggesting is inflammatory, misleading, bullshit concern trolling. Please stop.
